Javvarisi(sago) Uppuma

Javvarisi in tamil called as sago in English. It is made out of tapioca & having good carbohydrates which is later converted into energy. Maharashtra people will prepare this upma often.

Ingredients

Sago (small) – 1 cup

Onion (chopped) – ¼ cup

G.chilly – 5-6 nos

Coriander leaves – 2 stalks

Lemon – 1 no

Groundnut -1.5 tbs

For tempering

Oil – 2 tsp

Mustard – 1 tsp

Bengal gram – 1 tsp

Urad dal - 1 tsp

Curry leaves – 5-7 counts


Soak javarrisi for abt 8 hrs with less than ¾ cup of water or add sufficient water in to the javarisi, soak it for abt 30 minutes & drain it well, keep it for 6-7 hrs. Add oil in a kadai, put mustard, let it spluts add Bengal gram, urad dal, curry leaves one by one. Now add onion sauté till it turns light brown color. Here add salt & javvarisi stir it well, leave it for a while. Dry roast groundnut & powder it coarsely. Add this powder into the uppma, mix it well & switch off the stove. After a while add lemon juice. Garnish it with coriander leaves & serve hot.
