Vallarai masiyal

Vallarai also called saraswathi keerai, it belongs to the family of herbs but it can be used as routine green. Its leaves look like kidney shaped. It improves the mind's receptive capacity & capable of improving a person's memory power. Amma prepares kuzhambu by using this vallarai. Using tamarind & chilli with this will reduce the medicinal effects. So i tried it in the other way.


Ingredients
Vallarai - 1 cup
moongdal(splitted) - 3/4 cup
pepper - 1tsp
jeera - 1 tsp
lemon - small
salt - as per salt
Clean & chop the vallarai, add toor dal, turmeric powder with vallarai and place it in a cooker. Leave it upto 3-4 whistles. Grind pepper & jeera coarsely then add it in to the cooked vallarai dal following by salt. Finally when it becomes cool, add lemon juice & serve it.
Note
I prepare various dishes by using vallarai. As I want to absorb the max.. medicinal value, I use to prepare it like this in between. So I avoided chilly, tamarind & oil. This is one way of preparation, can be made spicy if required.Vallarai can be boiled separately
